R.D. Roy
has published two collections of short stories (Panegyric
Press) and a short novel, A Pre-emptive Kindness,
(Hidden Brook Press). His short stories and poems have
appeared in Canadian and international books and magazines,
including Montreal’s Matrix, the Windsor
Review, and Cuba's Ambassador. His first
book of poetry, Three Cities, was released in
March of 2008. Another collection, Life and Death
in Cheap Motels, written with Kingston poet Jen Londry,
was released in 2009. Roy's latest collection of poems, "In
the 4th Person", Panegyric Press, will be released this summer
at Purdy Fest in Marmora, Ontario.
Roy was an invited reader at Queen’s University’s Dub Poetry
festival in 2006, and the DUB Kingston-Toronto Solidarity Tour
in ‘07, and has read at the Art Bar and Hot-Sauced Words in
Toronto, and at Cooked & Eaten in Peterborough.
He was featured at the Al Purdy-People’s Poetry Festival and,
as a member of the Canada Cuba Literary Alliance, performed
at the Havana International Book Festival, the University of
Havana, in 2007and 2008, and for the Union of Cuban Artists
and writers, 2009.
Roy has been a regular contributor to Kingston's "Poetry and
Company", and his group, "The Tribe of Irritable Poets", has
been featured in two of CFRC's "Sound Box" productions.
R.D. Roy is a member of the League of Canadian Poets, the
Canada Cuba Literary Alliance, and PEN Canada. |
