The Stellar Literary Festival  is a one day event  
   
11 a.m. -  7 p.m.
held at the Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens  - see Map
155 Arena Street, Oshawa

Located just 50 km east of downtown Toronto, Oshawa is home to approximately 1,100 acres of parkland,
10 km of bicycle and walking trails and has a reputation for outstanding success in gardening.

writers, poets, readers, story tellers,  screenwriter, play writers & songwriters.


It's a great way to reach our communities book lovers, appreciators of poetry, etc and
connect with the literary industries, printers, publisher, teachers, schools, groups,
networking etc. plus bring attention to our literary scene from of Durham Region / GTA and beyond!

FIRST PLACE
 Fred Ford - Pickering ON
POEM: Bound

Fred Ford is pursuing his dream of writing after retiring from the business world.
 He is currently working on a novel and is also editing the memoirs of Percy Saltzman.
This summer he attended the Humber School for Writers and is planning a new
 writing circle at the Pickering Library.


SECOND PLACE
Jay C. Hershberg - Toronto ON
POEM: The Captain and HIs Ship

 Jay joined the R.C.A.F. in 1942, married his Claire1945, and raised a son and a daughter.
His daughter was the main influence in his writing poetry. He hopes that his "scratchings",
as refers to his writings, will be enjoyed for exactly what they are and will be a source of joy
 to his readers. Jay was the first President of The Ontario Poetry Society when it was founded.


THIRD PLACE
Marion Ruth Anderson - Oshawa ON
                           POEM: What If I Die Before I Get A Chance To Breathe?

Marion was born in Cape Breton, recently chose Oshawa as home where it is
close to family. She has been writing poetry as far back as she can remember
and has some poetry published, most recently in two books, one called
 “Sharing the Dark” and one to help raise funds for Katrina survivors called
 “Washing the Color Golden".

Ashley Nana Agyapong (age 13) - Brampton ON
(Haiku) Freedom

Ashley is 13 years old and a new resident of the peel region of the GTA.
In her spare time she enjoy reading, writing stories and poems, surfing the net,
rollerblading and talking with friends after school.


SECOND PLACE
Stephanie Yip (12) - North York ON
The Blue Beauty

Stephanie Yip grew up in North York, Ontario and has been storytelling since her very early years. Throughout her life, Stephanie has written many pieces of writing including prose, fairytales, some short novels, poetry and, of late, non-fiction prose. She has been published in Urban Voices, Young Voices and her elementary school newspaper.

The Little Girl

Julie-ann Roze got into poetry when she was in elementary school but she never really wrote it. When she got into high school things started happening in my life that made me feel sad and depressed and one of her main ways of dealing with her problems and emotions was writing them down on paper which would most of the time come out as a poem.

Perception

Andrew Black is in grade ten at Port Perry High School and am a member of the Poetry Club. Last year he won first place in the Pen Strokes competition. Andrew enjoys music and reading and writing.
